Molecular Biology Grade Beads
Like any product being used for DNA and RNA isolation, zirconium and silica beads are a potential source of nuclease, protease and nucleic acid contamination. Acid washed beads are clean, but there is a possibility of rogue nucleases and nucleic acids. For sensitive assays, it is important to inactivate contaminating enzymes and eliminate nucleic acids.
These beads are quality control tested using fluorogenic assays for protease, DNase, and RNase activities. The manufacturing process is also tested to ensure the destruction of nucleic acids as measured by PCR. Therefore, Molecular Biology Grade beads are certified nucleic acid, DNase, RNase, and protease-free. Molecular Biology Grade beads have all the advantages of Acid Washed beads, but with the added value of being safe for molecular biology applications, including PCR, that may be hindered by the presence of nucleic acids, DNase, RNase, or proteases.
